Jump Up Stories. Yavor Arabadzhiev

This week our Jump Up story is about one of A Data Pro’s masters of turning challenges into great opportunities.

Meet Yavor Arabadzhiev

Please say Hello! to Yavor, a Service Delivery Manager at A Data Pro. His constant eagerness to grow and develop is at the core of making a whole team climb the ladder of success. We are thrilled to have someone on board whose strong leadership and teamwork act in tandem to move mountains!

Please tell us a little bit about yourself

Hi there, I’m Yavor. Originally from Belene, a small town nearby the Danube River which is mostly famous for its unbuilt nuclear power station. My journey started when I was 14 years old, a boy who had to move to a different city – Privets, a beautiful small town in the heart of the mountains – to start his education in Computer Science. Following this, I moved to Sofia to continue my education. I hold a bachelor’s and master’s degree in… surprise :) Nuclear Energy from the Technical University of Sofia, but my professional path has taken me in another direction, as you will see. I still live in Sofia with my sweetheart Srebrina, and our 3-year-old baby girl, Vaya.

As a man in his 30s I like spending time with friends visiting new places, bars, and restaurants, but what really makes me happy, charged, and motivated is having time with my family – riding bikes, hiking, camping and such like. On the other hand, I am one of those people who need time to relax – watching movies, TV series, or just lying on the couch and imagining the future.

What is your ADP Story?

I’ve been working at A Data Pro for almost 12 years and a lot has changed in that time. I started from the most junior position in 2010 as a data analyst. It was a student job, but after I finished my education I had to decide to either relocate in order to start a job related to my education or to give the company a chance. Obviously, I chose A Data Pro and this was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Being part of various projects I have had the chance to gain knowledge and skills in different areas within the BI industry and to continually develop myself as a professional. I have occupied several managerial positions while climbing the corporate ladder to find my place now as Service Delivery Manager in the Data Aggregation and Entity Extraction Department, managing hybrid teams of domain experts and software engineers developing and implementing complex and innovative solutions for our clients.

What are you most proud of when it comes to your work in ADP?

I could talk a lot about achievements and success stories, the fact that I manage services for the biggest players in the industry is something that I am totally proud of. However, what makes me really happy and proud is the teams and environment that I have the chance to be part of.  The hard-working ethos, the desire for learning new things and self-development, plus the willingness to change actually make the difference. It is amazing to see how people can face-up to any challenge and turn it into an opportunity.

I am also proud of the position I have, which allows me to work directly with different departments throughout the whole group and with senior management as well.

What would you advise your younger self?

I would tell him to keep challenging himself, not be afraid of changes, and to remember that the key to appearing effortlessly cool is hard work.

We live in a dynamic world. How do you expect the industry you work in to change over the next 12 months? (ex. interesting tendencies, trends, latest developments, etc.)

The business intelligence industry has promised a future where everyone is empowered to make smart, data-driven business decisions and maybe it’s time to turn this promise into reality, and the keyword behind that is automation. Automation is expected to be one of the biggest business intelligence trends of the near future. Advancements in AI will allow scanning entire data warehouses in seconds, answering analytical questions, and tracking meaningful changes in data in real-time. Future industry trends are all part of a quickly evolving model that is essential to the progression of modern businesses.

Which fictional character do you feel you’re most like? What traits do you share with them?

Well I’ve never really thought about this, but I would say that (modest cough) I am brave, skilled and believe in justice so I could be Arya Stark from Game of Thrones.
